D’Evelyn Junior/Senior High School - Top SAT & PSAT scores among Colorado public, non-charter high schools

Today, the state of Colorado Department of Education (CDE) released its annual report on student performance on the SAT and PSAT.  D’Evelyn Junior/Senior High School students continued a long-standing tradition of excellence on nationally-normed standardized tests with their performance in April 2018.

As juniors, the D’Evelyn Class of 2019 placed first in the state for public non-charter high schools, and second among all public schools.  The D’Evelyn average composite score was 1297, 645 on Evidence-Based Reading & Writing (ERW) and 652 on Math.

This marks the 18th consecutive year that D’Evelyn juniors have earned the highest average scores of all public, non-charter schools in Colorado on the ACT or SAT.  Prior to the administration of the SAT / PSAT as the tests administered statewide in April each year, D’Evelyn juniors earned the highest average ACT scores in the state of Colorado for public, non-charter high schools for 16 consecutive years.

As sophomores, the D’Evelyn Class of 2020 placed first in the state for public, non-charter high schools, and second among all public schools.  The D’Evelyn average composite score was 1182, 585 on ERW and 596 on Math.

As freshmen, the  D’Evelyn Class of 2021 placed first in the state among all public high schools, with an average composite score of  1148, 570 on ERW and 578 on Math.

The test administration in 2018  marked the second year that all Colorado juniors completed the SAT and sophomores completed the PSAT 10 on the same April day.  This was the first year that Colorado freshmen completed the PSAT 9 on the same day.

“The student performance on SAT and PSAT tests speaks highly of the quality of the D’Evelyn academic program, the efforts of our committed faculty, and most importantly, the sincere and heartfelt commitment of D’Evelyn students to academic excellence,” D’Evelyn principal Josh Griffin said.  “While we have not and will not tailor our program to meet the specific demands of the College Board, the quality of the educational experience, grades 7 - 12, is reflected in the consistently excellent scores earned by D’Evelyn students on the PSAT and SAT.”

D’Evelyn Junior/Senior High School is a liberal arts, option school for students in grades 7 - 12. D’Evelyn students achieved the top SAT scores among public schools in Colorado in 2017 and earned the top ACT scores in Colorado from 2001 - 2016 (public, non-charter). D’Evelyn has also regularly achieved a 0% remediation rate, including in both the Class of 2014 and the Class of 2015.

D’Evelyn is located in unincorporated Jefferson County, a suburban community southwest of Denver, Colorado.  Students are admitted to the school for the start of grades 7, 8, and 9, based on the results of an annual lottery for students living within Jefferson County, and a secondary lottery for out-of-district students.

In order for students to be eligible for the D’Evelyn lottery, parents must attend one parent information meeting.  The information night dates and details of the D’Evelyn lottery process can be found at: http://develyn.jeffcopublicschools.org/our_school/enrollment.
