D’Evelyn Junior-Senior High School believes that extracurricular activities are essential to develop teamwork and collaborative skills providing a vital sense of satisfaction and accomplishment for students.

Our numerous clubs and groups are dedicated to providing every student an opportunity to pursue their own passions and build lifelong relationships. We strongly encourage our students to be involved with at least one of our groups and pursue every opportunity to develop leadership skills in an area that interests them.

Due to CHSAA guidelines, the following clubs now require registration: Marching Band, Winter Guard, Choir, Orchestra, Student Council, Theater, and Yearbook.

Builder’s Club is a community of young leaders committed to making a positive impact through service, teamwork, and creativity. Whether we’re organizing volunteer projects, supporting local causes, or developing leadership skills, we work together to build a better school and community—one project at a time. Junior High Speech & Debate

D'Evelyn Jaguars Junior High Speech and Debate is ready for its second season! Come join us to compete in Public Forum Debate, Program Oral Interpretation, Impromptu, or Oratory. Tournaments are usually once a month, on Friday afternoons, starting in September and ending in April. No previous experience is necessary.

National Junior Honor Society

Junior High Students are invited to apply to NJHS if they have a 3.85 GPA or above. The purpose of the National Junior Honor Society is “to create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate desire to render service, to promote leadership, and to develop character in the students of secondary schools." NJHS student participate in several fundraisers throughout the year and then at the end of each year, student donate the money raised to a charity of their choosing.

Math Competition Club

The Math Competition Club is open to all students in sixth-12th grade. Junior high students can compete in either the MathCounts or AMC 8 competition series and high school students can compete in the AMC 10 competition series. Rapid and accurate problem-solving skills are emphasized. Students compete as individuals or in teams for MathCounts and as individuals in the AMC series.

Mentoring

Mentoring provides support and friendship to our junior high students through the leadership and care of our high school students. Mentoring creates a safe and fun environment to learn about D'Evelyn and to make new connections. We do fun activities like our scavenger hunt, egg drop, tie dye, carnival and more.

Groups of students volunteer to go through the school and take out the recycling in the classrooms and offices. We can also provide recycling boxes to teachers who need them. Students who join the recycling club must be reliable and responsible. If you have an interest in sustainable practices and giving back to your school community, Recycling Club could be the place for you!

Improve hand eye coordination, and growth mindset, by playing with yo-yos, juggling (sticks), contact juggling balls, flowstars, kendamas, begleri, diabolos, poi, etc. Bringing your own is not required as Mr Z has plenty to lend. Any skill toy that requires practice is welcome.

Sources of Strength

Sources of Strength is a research based, peer-led program utilizing a strength-based and upstream approach to mental health promotion and prevention of adverse outcomes like suicide, violence, bullying, and substance misuse.

Strategic Gaming Club

Students of all grades come to play strategic board games such as Risk, Diplomacy, Chess, Axis & Allies, and many more! It's a great place to make friends and to unwind on a Friday afternoon. It fills up fast, so sign up early! The only ground rules: no homework and no chromebooks.

Watercolor Painting Club

Watercolor Painting Club is open to all students and all levels. Students can follow along with the weekly watercolor suggestion, or they can paint their own design. This is intended as a time to be creative, connect with friends, and listen to music in a calming atmosphere. The club is held in Mrs. Otterstetter's room (W111) every other Friday during 7th hour, when she isn't hosting Girls Mentoring. Painting supplies are provided and no prior experience is needed.

Are you looking for a quiet, calm space to relax after a busy week? Come anytime to Mrs. Sweney's yoga club on Fridays during 7th hour in E201. We welcome beginners and all students in grades 6-12. We do ask that you are quiet and respectful of others who come to this space to exercise and unwind.

Youth Celebrate Diversity / D@D Club

Youth Celebrates Diversity/.D@D Club is a club that advocates for D'Evelyn to be a more inclusive place. The club plans celebrations of the many different cultures and people that make this school great. The club also discusses issues in the community and world that we would like to see changed and how we can play a role. Finally, this club is for those who are struggling to find their people at D'Evelen or want to help those who may not have a group they identify with. We do fun activites where we get to know each other and share what makes each and every one of us uniquely beautiful. OUR GOAL IS TO MAKE ALL FEEL WELCOME AT D'EVELYN and to help those who may not have found their people yet.

D'Evelyn Service Corp

Juniors and Seniors participate in monthly volunteer opportunities throughout the community, including with the Ronald McDonald House, Food Bank for the Rockies, Jeffco Open Space, Habitat for Humanity, Denver Rescue Mission, Project C.U.R.E., and more! There is no minimum GPA or number of volunteer hours you need to do in order to participate, just join our Google Classroom (Code: 2FXGJJVR) and follow us on Instagram @dev.service.corps to know what events we have coming up and to sign up for the ones you're interested in.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes

FCA is a club that stands for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. It is a faith-based club welcoming students from all backgrounds and interests. During the club time, students lead conversations discussing the Christian faith and what it looks like to live that out in a way that is full of love, kindness, peace, and accountability. Come be a part of FCA and participate in good conversations, regardless of where you are in your faith journey.

Forensics, Speech, & Debate

D'Evelyn Jaguars High School Speech and Debate is looking forward to another great year of CHSAA competition in the following events: Lincoln-Douglas Debate, Public Forum Debate, Congressional Debate, Oratory, Informative Speaking, Interpretation (Humor, Drama, Poetry, or Program Oral Interpretation), and Extemporaneous Speaking. We will work around your sports or band schedules! We start practicing in September and go through the end of March for our regular season. Tournaments are usually on Saturdays, and you can come to as many or as few as you want. No previous experience is needed.

Friday Fun with Friends

Improv (D'Evelyn Disguise)

D'Evelyn Disguise has been around since 1997. We perform improvisational games in 4-7 shows per year. Tryouts are required for high school students. We meet Friday 7th hours, and Tuesday mornings. We annually have a show to raise money for various charities. The troupe mainly raises money to help supplement costs for theater programs. We meet in the auditorium.

National Honor Society

The National Honor Society (NHS) is the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. More than just an honor roll, NHS serves to recognize those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership and character. To be invited to apply, second-semester sophomores and juniors must have a GPA of 3.75 (weighted) or above and demonstrate their commitment to student leadership.

Students invited to apply complete an application and faculty review selection process. If accepted, the 40+ students meet on the first Thursday morning of every month before school to plan activities for the school, and complete at least 15 volunteer hours per semester. Our NHS students help facilitate events such as new student orientation, the fall and spring blood drives and Trick or Treat Street.

Rowdies

The Rowdies are all about school spirit! We are coming together every Friday to create chants, make posters, and come up with ways to get more school spirit at our games. We want to support our sports teams and make a fun environment for students who go to the games, with the hope that we will get more people involved and full of DHS spirit!

Spanish Honor Society

Spanish Honor Society (la Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica) is an Honor Society sponsored by the national organization (AATSP - American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese) for those students who have demonstrated academic excellence in their Spanish I, II, III and IV classes (this is a club for those students who are in Spanish IV Honors and AP Spanish ONLY) and possess a passion for the Spanish-speaking culture. We do community service activities that support the Spanish-speaking community in the Denver-metro area as well as cultural activities that celebrate the Spanish-speaking culture. Some activities that we have done/do: The Canned Food Drive in November to benefit the Jeffco Action Center, Santa Shop (Jeffco Action Center), partnering with a bilingual elementary school for after-school tutoring opportunities, Day of the Dead celebration at Crown Hill Cemetery, salsa and tango dance lessons, almuerzo hispano (food party with dishes from around the Spanish-speaking world), Fiestas Patrias, Cinco de mayo celebration in Denver, dinners at restaurants with food from the Spanish-speaking world, and more.

Tri-M

Tri-M (Modern Music Masters) is a music honor society open to upperclassmen enrolled in band, choir or orchestra. Through performance and community service, students in Tri-M utilize and develop leadership qualities, creativity and critical thinking. D'Evelyn's Tri-M chapter currently consists of 28 members and meets in the choir room.
