* Students may take world language classes in junior high school, but only eighth-grade world language counts toward the graduation requirement (no high school credit is earned for any courses taken prior to the beginning of the ninth-grade year). If a student takes a world language in eighth grade, at least two additional years of the same world language must then be taken while in high school.
D’Evelyn High School Graduation Requirements
All students must take six courses each semester. Full-year courses earn one credit while semester courses earn a half credit. Students must earn no fewer than 22 credits in grades 9 through 12 to receive a D'Evelyn High School diploma.

Additional considerations
Physical Education
One semester of physical education is required in junior high and one semester in high school. In lieu of taking one semester of P.E. in high school, students must complete a P.E. waiver request and fulfill one of the following:
- Participation in two seasons of the same CHSAA-sanctioned sport (If the CHSAA sport is offered at D’Evelyn, a waiver may only be approved for participation on the D’Evelyn team)
- Participation in two seasons of poms or cheerleading
- Participation in three seasons of marching band or color guard
A student may request a P.E. waiver for participation in a non-CHSAA sport if the following requirements are met:
- The student must have a substantial time, fitness and competitive commitment that is similar in nature to that of a CHSAA sport.
- A student must compete in this sport for at least two seasons.
- A student must meet the CHSAA academic eligibility standards throughout their participation.
It is the responsibility of the student to present their P.E. waiver request to the principal prior to the end of their junior year.
Fine Arts
One semester of a fine arts course is required in senior high school. The fine arts include visual arts, music, and theater.
Speech Recommendation
Graduates must be able to concisely and dynamically express their thoughts in both spoken and written forms. Therefore, it is strongly recommended that every D'Evelyn student complete at least one speech-intensive course before graduation. This may include public speaking, theatre, or drama.
Math
Some students may be ahead or behind the standard math track. Math courses listed are at grade level. Students behind in math will also be behind in the high school science sequence starting with chemistry. If the student is not at the appropriate mathematics level, chemistry, and physics must be taken during the junior and senior years, respectively. A minimum of three years of high school level math must be completed, beginning with Algebra/Geometry 1 or higher, during grades 9-12.
World Language
Three consecutive years of the same world language are required for graduation. One year of this requirement may be fulfilled by language study in eighth grade, giving students options to complete the requirement by two years of study during high school or to advance through the AP level of the language. The eighth-grade world language class does not appear on the high school transcript.
Computer Science
One semester of Computer Applications must be taken during grades 7, 8, or 9 or students must pass a competency test. Students entering D’Evelyn in ninth grade who have not passed an equivalent course must pass a competency test or take the Computer Applications class as early as possible.
CDE High School Graduation Guidelines
Colorado graduation guidelines are a road map to help students and their families plan for success after high school. To graduate from high school, students choose from a menu of options – adopted at the local school board level – to demonstrate postsecondary and workforce readiness (PWR) in English and math.
Each local school board has the authority to establish local high school graduation requirements that meet or exceed the Colorado Graduation Guidelines. The options available at D’Evelyn include:
