Steering Committee

The D’Evelyn Junior-Senior High School Steering Committee’s mission is to govern the school, to protect the liberal arts philosophy, and to assure that the direction of the school is maintained.

All Steering Committee meetings will be open to the public unless Steering Committee members vote to meet in an executive session.

The Steering Committee’s “Overall task will be to make the board decisions such as upholding, interpreting and clarifying the philosophy, approving new curriculum, maintaining relations and communications with the district and reacting to new laws or district policies, etc. The Steering Committee will be free to involve other people for input and advice in making decisions as it deems appropriate.” – FD 21

“The Steering Committee reserves the right to adopt such bylaws, rules, and procedures as it may deem necessary to govern its affairs, including but not limited to, quorum, voting, and removal requirements.” – FD 57

Public Commentary

The Steering Committee welcomes public commentary from the D’Evelyn community.

Please email your intent to give public commentary no later than three days prior to the next Steering Committee meeting to ensure 5 minutes of public commentary is added to the meeting agenda. If more than one community member wishes to address the Steering Committee, we may limit public commentary to 20 minutes to ensure other business can be conducted.

If you are unable to attend to share your public commentary, you may email a transcript. We will read up to the first five minutes of your comment out loud during the scheduled time, though Steering Committee members will read them on their own in their entirety. Shorter, more concise comments will have the advantage of a full read during the meeting.
