ALL STUDENTS:

~Any current 10th and 11th graders who are interested in becoming a Girls Mentoring Leader next year, please come to the Counseling Office to pick up an application. Leader applications are due this Friday March 22nd.

 

~It’s Monday jags! Meet in the senior lounge at 3 PM for cheer’s 1-hour workout class! Everyone is welcomed, meet future teammates and train your strength and flexibility!

 

~Attention all 8th-11th graders! This Thursday cheer is hosting an informational meeting in the cafeteria during 7th hour. No sign up is required, simply bring your friends, have some food, and see if cheerleading is something you are interested in! 

 

~Hey Jags! The NHS blood drive is coming up on April 2nd, the Tuesday we return from break! Donating blood can save up to 9 lives! Stop by lunch next week to sign up for a slot. You must be 16 years old to donate.

 

~Attention Art Students!  Going, Going, Gone!  Due to the two snow days, you will have two more days in which you can pick up your pieces, so...please pick up your Word Art Sculptures in the library by Tuesday or they will be discarded.  This is your last chance! 

SENIOR HIGH STUDENTS:

~If you are interested in auditioning for Concert Choir there is a sign up sheet on Mr. White's door for 7th Hour auditions. If you have any questions or need to audition before or after school please see Mr. White.

 

~Seniors – The JCEA Sue Anne Berger Scholarship, up to $10,000 over four years, focuses on students pursuing degrees in the physical sciences. In addition, the JCEA Excellence Fund scholarship, up to $4,000 over 4 years, supports future preK-12 educators.  Both scholarship deadlines have been extended until April 5th.  Complete details are on the Scholarship bulletin board near the cafeteria.

~Junior High play cast! The first rehearsal will be today at 2:45. Meet in the drama room.

 

PARENTS:

~Hello parents! Did you know that YOU donating blood can save up to 3 lives? National Honor Society is holding a blood drive on April 2nd from 9 am - 1 pm at D’Evelyn High School. We need a lot of community involvement and we would love for you to donate to this great cause. This coming week (March 18-22) NHS will have a sign up sheet at lunch so you can sign up for a time slot. Here is how you can sign up: 1) Have your child sign you up for a time slot at lunch 2) Come in during the day and sign up on the sheet. The sheet will be in Sonya Sotolongo’s financial office. 3) Email Shiloh Miller, the vice president, at shi10hmiller@msn.com and she will help you find a time slot to donate. This is such a great opportunity to give back and help others, so get your family members, friends, and community members to donate! We hope to see you there! The 2019 D’Evelyn DASH, to be held on August 24th, is right around the corner and we are currently seeking sponsorships. Not only will your business receive extensive exposure to our D’Evelyn families, but the promotion you receive will extend out to the general public in the form of posters and door hangers distributed throughout the community. We estimate that with the combined DASH 5k2k, the high school cross country meet, and the collection of promotional booths set up, the DASH draws roughly 3,000 people over the course of the morning!  For more information on sponsorship benefits, click here.

 


Sponsorships are available from $150 to $1,000.  For more information on how you can become a D’Evelyn DASH Sponsor, please contact develyndashsponsorship@gmail.com.

 

Mr. Sabre and Mr. Habel are still welcoming participants for our June, 2020, trip to Italy, France and Spain. The tour registration page (https://www.eftours.com/tour-website/2155527PN ) is open and accepting up to 16 new travelers. Both students and parents are welcome!

 

In March, parents and students will be receiving a school survey. Parents will have the opportunity to complete the Principal survey and students will take a school satisfaction survey during class. These surveys are anonymous and an opportunity for you and your student to provide honest and thorough feedback regarding the school. All feedback is welcome, we love to hear when things are going well, and we also want to know when there are things that we could improve upon. Please discuss this opportunity with your student(s). Remind them that the survey is anonymous and encourage them to take their time and complete the survey to the best of their ability. Thank you so much for your attention to this. D’Evelyn is committed to achieving high standards and continually strives to improve and provide the best academic experience for its students.

Feeling like you need/want to know more about the place where your child/ren spend most of their time? Want to give back to our great school? Join our accountability team for the 2019-2020 school year. We have openings we are looking to fill with eager parents. You can learn about the purpose of the Accountability Committee in theD’Evelyn Founding Document, on page 49.

Time commitment is usually less than five hours a month (including one meeting/month) during the school year. If you are interested in serving, please 
contact any of the current accountability officers.

 

~Please support Spanish club by buying a coupon book to help fund our humanitarian trip to Baja Mexico this summer.  Money raised will be used to build a house for a family in need in Mexico.  Coupon books are available from Spanish club members or Mrs. Stevenson.  There will also be a table at conferences for you to get more information and buy your coupon book!  We will also be hosting a Parents Night out on March 15th and April 5th.  Please sign up here or contact Mrs. Stevenson at paige.stevenson@jeffco.k12.co.us for more information.

~Spring into Spring with D'Evelyn Disguise's St. Patty's Day Spring Fling, tonight at 6:00 PM.  That's right, 6:00 p.m. tonight, and with a cost of only $3, we will see you there!

 

~Boys Mentoring will meet today.  Please report to your rooms for attendance and snacks, then your lead mentors will take you to the small gym.

 

~For girls that are interested in taking part in a super fun engineering competition with the Engineers from GE, sign up for 7th hour today in Mrs. Newcomb's room.

~The CyberPatriot Program Informational Meeting is today, March 15th from 2:45-3:45pm in Mr. Vollmer’s room.  Cybersecurity is the protection of networks from attacks and unauthorized access to data systems in a company or in a government system.  There is a huge need for these skills and the pay reflects this high demand.  Learn more about this exciting field.  There will a Jr High and High school group for next year grades 7th to 11th are encouraged to attend.

ALL STUDENTS:

Colorado Christian University from Lakewood will be in Counseling today during 7th hour.  CCU has no classes on Fridays, all housing is apartment style and the average class size is 13:1.  Want to know more?  Stop by Counseling and sign up in the College Visit Book.

Auditions for this year's Junior High play "Beware the Jabberwock" will be today, at 2:45 in the auditorium. No preparation is necessary. All junior highers welcome.

ALL STUDENTS:

~Mrs. Battaglia and Mr. Porreco’s 7th hour today is for volleyball players only. No spectators and the referees have already been chosen. If you are not a volleyball player, please remove your name from their sign-up.

 


~This weekend is daylight savings time. Don’t forget to move your clock forward one hour on Sunday morning.

 


~ Girls Mentoring is meeting today during 7th hour. We are doing a fun glitter jar activity so please meet in your classroom.

 


~ All Boys (8th-11th grade) interested in playing basketball this summer and next winter need to attend an information meeting with the coaching staff today during 7th hour in Mr. Slaughter’s room. 

 


~ FROGS Club is a student led Bible study meeting 7th hour in Mrs. LeBlanc's room, East 112.  New attendees are always welcome.

 


~Opening Day for Jags Baseball is this coming Saturday, March 9. Varsity plays at 11:00 am and JV at 1:00 pm. Both games will be at home, so come cheer on your Jags!

~Come join Tri-M at the classy Masquerade Ball  this Saturday at 7:00 pm. This black tie affair will be jazz themed so dress for the 1920s, bring a mask, and enjoy! Tickets will be $10. The dance is for high school students only.

 

 

~Seniors – There are MANY new scholarship opportunities on the Scholarship Board near the cafeteria.  Please stop by counseling for more information.

 

 

JUNIOR HIGH STUDENTS:

 

The Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) is a program sponsored by the Lakewood Rotary for a 5-day summer leadership conference held at the YMCA Camp/Estes Park in July.  Entering 11th and 12th grade students can apply.    RYLA is one of the finest leadership programs available to high school students. Counseling has additional information.

~Please support Spanish club by buying a coupon book to help fund our humanitarian trip to Baja Mexico this summer.  Money raised will be used to build a house for a family in need in Mexico.  Coupon books are available from Spanish club members or Mrs. Stevenson.  There will also be a table at conferences for you to get more information and buy your coupon book!  We will also be hosting a Parents Night out on March 15th and April 5th.  Please sign up here or contact Mrs. Stevenson at paige.stevenson@jeffco.k12.co.us for more information.
