Each month coaches have the opportunity to nominate athletes for Student Athlete of the Month. In order to be selected for this prestigious award, athletes must be academically eligible every week and make significant contributions to their teams, in the eyes of their coaches

The female Student Athlete for January is Maddie Topping.

Maddie is off to a great start to her Jaguar career.  She jumped from her first year on JV to a full time starter as a sophomore - and what a difference she has made!  Maddie is averaging 8 points, 4 steals, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists a game. On top of that she has played the most minutes on the team and started all 12 games so far.  She plays with great composure and skill and has fit in seamlessly with her teammates. Don’t let her quiet and reserved demeanor on the court fool you. She is a tough competitor!  Maddie embodies the Jaguar Way Have Fun, Play with Heart, Train Hard, Play Fast, and Succeed Together.

Congratulations Maddie

Maddie was nominated by Coach Olson

The male Student Athlete of the Month for January is Sandy Dinegar.

Sandy has really come into his own this season. He has stepped up and become an on the court leader for our team, and a dominating force inside on both the offensive and defensive ends of the court. He is leading our team in scoring, rebounding, and blocked shots. He is also third on the team in assists and steals per game. Most importantly, Sandy brings a smile to the court on a daily basis. He enjoys the game of basketball, being part of the team, and enjoying the experience of playing with his friends. I am excited to see what the rest of the season brings for Sandy and what he can do.

Congratulations Sandy!

Sandy was nominated by Coach Zinn.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THESE FINE STUDENT ATHLETES

Important updates regarding D’Evelyn enrollment for 2020-2021

D’Evelyn will offer a new 6th grade program next school year (2020-2021). Enrollment for the 2020-2021 school year is just around the corner. The 1st round priority enrollment period will occur from December 10, 2019 - January 15, 2020 in the EnrollJeffco system.

For the 2020-2021 school year, D’Evelyn will accept applicants for 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th grade from both Jeffco and non-Jeffco residents. We ask D’Evelyn community members to share these updates with friends and family in the metro area, as well as the details of our Prospective Student Information Sessions.

We will host Prospective Student Information Sessions in the D’Evelyn Auditorium on the following days and times:

  • Tuesday, January 7th, 7 PM - only for students seeking to begin HS in 9th grade at D’Evelyn
  • Thursday, January 9th, 7 PM

Additionally, the D’Evelyn faculty, staff, and administration is organizing an Open House event from 9 AM - noon on Saturday, November 9th for interested students and families. This will be a great chance to meet D’Evelyn students, teachers, coaches, club sponsors, and administrators, to learn more about the school, and tour the facility.

We encourage all families interested in D’Evelyn enrollment for their student(s) in grades 6, 7, 8, and 9 for 2020-2021 to attend one of these Information Sessions.

To learn more about the D’Evelyn lottery and enrollment process, please visit our Enrollment webpage or call Mrs. Kathy Hays, the D’Evelyn registrar, at 303-982-6128 or email her at Kathy.Hays@jeffco.k12.co.us.

The Academic Assistance Center is officially running from 2:45-4:00 pm after school in the library. This program allows students to have a quiet time and space for additional academic support and tutoring. This is primarily for Jr. High, however, high school students may attend on a referral basis. If you wish for your student to attend the Academic Assistance Center, please contact your student’s administrator, counselor, or Mrs. Lewis (katie.lewis@jeffco.k12.co.us). Thanks!

This year, the D’Evelyn Jr/Sr High Student Council and the entire D’Evelyn and Dennison community are working to raise $12,000 to support Make-A-Wish Colorado during our annual Wish Week, which is January 21-25 2020. This organization works to grant wishes for children battling critical illness, like our school’s wish child, Jalen. Jalen is a nine year old boy battling leukemia who wishes to become an astronaut. Through the incredible support of our community, last year the senior high student council raised $10,000 for Make-A-Wish Colorado. Because we raised this amount, the organization is generously allowing the school to meet Jalen at a DHS event.

This year, we are inviting Jalen and his family to join the school for our Sadies Pep Rally on January 24. If you would like to support Jalen and his dream to become an astronaut, we have several ways to do so.

First of all, we need three gift cards to pay for the family’s trip to Denver from Colorado Springs; if you can donate a $100 Le Peep, Chile’s, or a gas gift card for their stay, please email Holly McCollough at mccolloughhl@gmail.com as soon as possible, or by January 7. In addition, if you would like to donate directly towards the campaign to raise $12,000 for Make-A-Wish Colorado, you can donate securely online through this link: http://site.wish.org/goto/DEvelyn2020. Thank you for your endless and generous support of D’Evelyn and Make-A-Wish Colorado!
