Greetings Fellow Senior Parents!

Senior Montages are a special tradition at D’Evelyn and we're not going to let a little pandemic stop us! This email is to let you know that it’s time to start planning your student’s senior montage.

What is a Senior Montage? The D’Evelyn Senior montage is simply a photo collage (14” x 22”) of highlights from your senior's life (so far). Once completed, submit a photo/file of your montage and it will be displayed in a presentation with all other 2021 D'Evelyn graduating seniors at the (still-in-planning) Prom Event and the (cross your fingers) Senior Banquet.

Once you finish the montage it will be a great keepsake to use as a graduation party decoration or help you remember great times with your graduate! To give you some ideas, examples of montages may be viewed here:

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1tDneWXLdZxDNUVYQShhsJBbw6wW1ymKu?usp=sharing

Here is the link to the 2020 montages, also, for even more examples:

https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1LKWdqPu_a9uFjGl6ty4fBvY2V-WAvxF0xISsnAjVe8A/present

Guidelines and details:

1) Questions? Please contact me, Rene Beck, at renedbeck@gmail.com; 303-482-6423.

2) Guidelines: There is no single way / right or wrong way to complete this project honoring your senior. No matter how simple or complex, the Senior Montage will serve as a unique memento.

3) Size: 14” x 22”, or as close to this as possible. You can purchase a poster or foam board and cut it down to size (14” x 22”) or you can choose to order an online photo collage in this (or similar size). You choose the orientation -- landscape or portrait

4) What to include:

  • Your senior's name somewhere on the front of the montage
  • Choose photos ranging from birth through senior year. Ideas include vacation photos, family photos, friend photos, photos of your student participating in meaningful events and extracurricular activities, such as sports, honor societies, scouts, volunteer work, mock trial, musical, etc.
  • Stickers or other mementos are welcome.  Think about how well things will photograph after assembly and thicker embellishments may make transporting cumbersome.
  • You may choose to include your senior's college choice or plans for next year.
  • If you choose to order an online photo collage (such as from Costco, Shutterfly, Walgreens) instead of mounting individual photos on the poster board, that works, too. Just ensure the finished size is as close to 14” x 22” as possible.
  • To make it a long lasting keepsake, we recommend you laminate your montage. While this is not mandatory, it will prevent damage due to hanging and handling. This can be done for you at FedEx Office, Staples or similar print centers. Pricing varies, so call to verify. Self-serve laminating may also be available at Mardel.

5) Deadline: Emailed photos or files of completed montages are due to renedbeck@gmail.com no later than Friday, April 9.  We will get them assembled for presentation at whatever event(s) are allowed for the seniors this spring.

DAZZLING JAGS:

February Scholars of the Month

Junior High Female Scholar- Carter Rossetter loves literature and always responds and reacts to texts in such astute ways. She continually engages and loves to participate. Her work is both thoughtful and thorough. Carter is a joy to have in class! - nominated by Mrs. Tompkins

Junior High Male Scholar- Darian Valdez-Berriel has made a 180 degrees change in English class from first semester to second semester. He now comes to class motivated to learn and asks great questions. Darian frequently advocates for himself, coming to 7th hour to get clarification and help on assignments, and he has not missed a BEAT this semester. It has been wonderful to have Darian's presence in the classroom and to see him mature and grow as a student of English literature. - nominated by Ms. Ford

High School Female Scholar - Ella Johnson, a ninth-grader, is new to D'Evelyn and has worked very hard to get quickly acclimated and to learn how to be successful here.  She completes her work very conscientiously, comes in for extra help when needed, and maintains an upbeat and optimistic attitude. Being new is tough, but Ella is making friends, working hard, and inspiring others. Great Job Ella!  Nominated by Mrs. Monzel

Monzel

High School Male Scholar - Bradley Blakemore has demonstrated enormous growth since his sophomore year through his strong work ethic, willingness to contribute to class discussions, and improvement in writing. He works hard on his assignments, and I am so proud of his change of attitude! - nominated by Mrs. Tompkins

Congratulations to the entire mock trial team, who competed at regionals last weekend. We are thrilled we are sending Anna Doebbler, Anjali Misra, Kayli Langan, Hannah Moskowitz, Rayna Hylden, Maggie Holland, Cindy Nguyen, Sara Mazur, and Lucy Ingram to represent D’Evelyn at the state tournament next month.  Special congratulations to Rayna Holden, Mathias Bauer, Williams, Alex Holland and Tony Adams for their special individual recognitions for their performance at regionals.  Congratulations, all!

You choose the orientation -- landscape or portrait.

PARENTS:

Dear D’Evelyn Families, Please take a moment to contact our registrar, Kathy Hays at khays@jeffco.k12.co.us or 303-982-6128 and let her know if you will be leaving our school for the next school year and have not submitted that information in Enroll Jeffco. We understand that families transition to other locations for many different reasons and we want to support you in those decisions as much as possible. Thank You

The D”Evelyn School Store will open today February 19th and Friday, February 26th for in person shopping! We will be allowing one group in at a time – you need to go through the front door for health check.  We can accept credit cards, checks or cash.  Hope to see you there!  Hours: 9am- 10am, 1pm-2:30pm

Thurs, Feb 25 from 5:30 - 7 pm MST Smart and Scattered Virtual Workshop for parents and families to help children and teens strengthen executive skills to reach their full potential.  Executive skills are brain functions which help us to accomplish goals, overcome challenges, plan and organize activities and work to complete a task.  These skills are critical to learning and while some students seem to acquire them naturally, many struggle to develop them.  To learn more join Dr. Peg Dawson, an internationally known school psychologist specializing in executive skills for schools and organizations.
