Meet the Administrative Team

Amber Cannizzaro

Assistant Principal Amber Cannizzaro

Personal: I will be getting married in June of 2024! It is a super exciting time as we are planning for our big day! I am a big family person, so when I am not at work I spend a lot of time with my family. I am a very proud aunt and love spending time with my nephew who I think is just the cutest kid out there, but I might be biased! ☺️

Education: I have my bachelor's degree in English with a Secondary Education License and my master's in Educational Leadership with a Principal's License.

Work: I started my career teaching English at Golden High School. I moved to Mountain Range in Adams 12 for a dean opportunity. When D'Evelyn posted its dean position, I knew it was my sign to come back home to Jeffco. I believe in D'Evelyn, the founding documents, the community and the amazing students that we interact with every day. I feel blessed to be here and hope that I can help by being a positive impact on the school culture.

I have been part of Jeffco Schools since I started attending Normandy Elementary School in 1983. After graduating from Columbine High School, I attended the University of Wyoming for three years and then transferred 60 miles south to Colorado State University to finish earning my history degree and teaching credentials.

My first teaching job was at Evergreen Middle School, where I taught mainly eighth-grade U.S. History, but I also gained experience in other subjects, including science, math, English and physical education. During my time at EMS I started and completed my master’s in Educational Leadership at the University of Denver. After five years teaching middle school students, I took a position at Golden High School teaching economics, government, United States history and world history classes. In addition to being a teacher, I also enjoyed coaching high school swimming at Columbine and Golden high schools.

Hello Jaguars! I’m excited to be your new athletic director! I’ve lived a life immersed in sports with amazing experiences as a 3 sport high school athlete, college athlete, coach at the youth, high school and college levels, sports parent and over a decade as a high school athletic director. I’m thrilled to be a part of the rich tradition at D’Evelyn and look forward to continuing our focus on academic and athletic excellence. Building community and school spirit through our athletic program will be a focus as we strike the balance in becoming the most inclusive and competitive program we can be. Go Jags!

Hello Jaguars!! I am excited to be at D’Evelyn Jr / Sr High this school year as your new Dean of Students. I recently retired as an Assistant Principal from Summit Ridge Middle School but couldn’t stay away from teenagers! 🙂. Prior to Summit Ridge I worked as an Assistant Principal at Falcon Bluffs Middle School and Columbine High School. I began my career as a Science / PE teacher at Oberon Middle School and have over twenty years of administrative experience. I am looking forward to being a part of the D’Evelyn staff.

I have two wonderful daughters; Olivia (Columbine Rebel) and Caroline (Ken Caryl Spartan) and spend a lot of my free time watching them play soccer, softball, and marching band. My husband, Brooks Roybal, is a teacher at Columbine High School and we both grew up in Jeffco (go Farmers). We also have two dogs, Spinner and Ribbie along with two chickens, Toast and Strips. I can’t live without my pets!

I have worked my entire career in Jeffco, I guess you can say Jeffco is in my blood, in fact, my daughters are 3rd generation Jeffco students.

I’m looking forward to working with the D’Evelyn community!
